Important notes:
-The practices are scheduled for every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, more details below.
– Action Range Qualification NOT required. We welcome any member (including their guests) who knows how to safely handle their pistol and wants to get better at pistol shooting. If you need someone to meet 1:1 to go over how to handle your pistol, reach out to us.
-Please familiarize yourself with the safety briefing below. As you review it, please remember that it is all of our duties to be vigilant for safety issues. Remember that you are able to call out any issues you may see, and able to call a ceasefire if necessary to prevent or correct unsafe conditions.
-Remember that, if someone calls a ceasefire, it means to pause what you are doing immediately, ensure that your muzzle is pointed in a safe direction and your finger is off the trigger, observe your surroundings, and await further instruction to correct the safety issue.
-If you drop anything while on or near the firing line, leave it on the ground until instructed that is safe to pick it up. If you drop a firearm, do not try to catch it!
Colonel Jeff Cooper’s Four Basic Rules of Firearms Safety:
-
All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
-
Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)
-
Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
-
Identify your target, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified.
What to bring:
-Cased or Holstered Pistol (no magnum cartridges indoors) (any sights/optic)
-At least 2 magazines (1 speedloader for revolvers)
-At least 100 rounds of ammunition
-Eye and ear protection
Arriving:
When you walk onto the range, benches will be available at the firing line for ALL firearm uncasing/holstering/handling.
If you show up a few minutes later than the schedule start time, please make sure you have your eye & ear protection ready when you walk on the range.
